Signups for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library begin in Fergus County on September 10th | Alissa Wolenetz, Library Director

The Friends of the Library and Lewistown Public Library are excited to bring Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to Fergus County! Registration begins online and at the Library on Saturday, September 10th. Staff, Friends, and Board members will be available on the Library patio from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. during Chokecherry to help you get started.

What is this?

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book-gifting program for children ages 0-5. Every month, a book is mailed from the Dolly Parton Foundation directly to participating children at no cost to families.

What does “no cost” mean?

Book costs ($2.10/child/month) are covered by local sponsors, so the program is always completely free to families.

Many, many thanks to Central Montana Foundation, Fergus County Prevention, Central Montana Jaycees, Fergus Federal Credit Union, and Lewistown Kiwanis for sponsoring this program.

Who is eligible?

Children can be signed up for the program as soon as they are born. They graduate from the program when they turn five.

To join our program, the child must 1) live in Fergus County, and 2) be between zero and five* years old.

*Because it takes up to 90 days before the first book arrives, children turning five within three months are not eligible to join the program.

What should I do if the child I want to sign up lives outside the county?

If the child you want to register lives outside the county, you cannot register them for this program. We only have enough funding for kids who live within the county. However, we are happy to help you find a different program or begin the process of bringing Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to a different area.

How can I sign up?

Sign up at the Library or online. More information is available on our website (lewistownlibrary.org).

Where can I donate?

Donations can be made through Central Montana Foundation to a Friends of the Library endowment specifically for this program. To learn more, please contact CMF or visit their website. The $2,500 basis for this endowment was contributed by the Friends of the Library.

What if I need help?

Please contact the Library at 406-538-5212 or attend the registration rollout event this Saturday, September 10th, on the Library’s patio.
