Overview
The Lewistown Public Library is seeking a motivated and ambitious individual to work as a Librarian II or III. We are looking for someone who has experience with education and community outreach, has a love of books and book culture, and can demonstrate excellent project management and communication skills.
Librarianship is a specialty field. A Master’s of Library and Information Science degree and/or experience working in a library is preferred. However, we are willing to work with a high-quality candidate if they are motivated to learn these specialized skills in-house. Opportunities for certification and continuing education are available.
Lewistown is a cozy little community in Central Montana. This job offers the opportunity to engage with patrons and organizations from all of Fergus County and beyond. Established as a Carnegie Library in 1905, the Lewistown Public Library is proud to offer enriching programs and thoughtful collections free to all Fergus County residents.

Preference will be given to applications submitted by EOD on Friday, October 3, 2025. $18.28 or $19.31 per hour DOE. Scheduled annual pay raises and longevity increases. Up to 40 hours per week. Background check required. Health insurance (MMIA) available after 60 days. Dental, vision, and life insurance available during Open Enrollment (Summer 2026). Retirement (PERS) benefits included. Paid vacation, sick, and holiday leave. Collective bargaining membership (MFPE) optional.
