We are excited to bring two new adult programs to the Lewistown Public Library this month. If you are looking for something to spark joy and build community during these dark winter months, these programs are sure to do both.
Our new Welcome to Lewistown Book Club is open to both new and longstanding Lewistown residents who want to learn a little more about our community and the Library. As part of this program, participants will take part in book club style discussions paired with activities out in the community, such as snowshoeing, fly-tying, and gardening. The goal of this program is to introduce patrons to all the wonderful things that Lewistown has to offer while connecting them through the books they love. Additionally, newcomers can have a social outlet to meet people in town. The first meeting will take place on Tuesday, January 25 at 6PM in the upstairs Meeting Room. We will discuss everyone’s favorite books and films. A list of book discussion kits will be available to choose a book for the next meeting. In response to patron interest following presentations by authors Caroline Patterson and Mark Gibbons in the fall, the Library will now offer a monthly adult creative writing group. Final Thursday Writers Group will meet on the last Thursday of each month at 6PM in the upstairs Meeting Room beginning on Thursday, January 27. Participants will be provided with writing prompts to spark their creativity and have the chance to share their work with the group. We can also discuss writing topics and workshop participants’ writing. All genres and experience levels are welcome. Whether you are a seasoned writer or just curious about it, this program will provide an open, welcoming environment to share and grow your writing practice. While writing is often a solitary activity, this writing group will serve to create a social connection through creative writing and bring together the incredible writing community that exists in Lewistown. Both the Welcome to Lewistown Book Club and Final Thursday Writers Group are open to all. You do not need to have a library card to attend and there is no sign-up required.
