Author Dinner by Dani Buehler

May is just around the corner, and here in Library Land, that means a multitude of things. The season of trainings and conferences are upon us (and if you were wondering, yes, Library Land trainings are certainly the best), we are busily planning an amazing Summer Reading Program for all ages; and lastly, it is Author Dinner time! The Lewistown Public Library is excited to present our 9th Annual Author Dinner. Over the years, the Author Dinner has become a spotlight occasion in the Library’s calendar, as well as, being a notable event in Central Montana. And this year, we expect to continue with this illustrious tradition. We are proud to bring author Keith McCafferty to Lewistown for a night of conversation, merriment, and good old-fashioned Lewistown Library hospitality.

Now you may be asking yourself, who is this Keith McCafferty? Keith is the Survival and Outdoor Skills editor of Field & Stream and the author of the Sean Stranahan mystery series. His novels have been referred to as “fly fishing noir” and are primarily set in Montana. The Lewistown Library Author Dinner alum, Craig Johnson (author of the bestselling Walt Longmire novels) describes Keith’s work as “flat-out terrific.” McCafferty’s writing has also been labeled as “wry humor” by the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Keith has also received many accolades for his writing including the Robert Traver Award for Best Angling Literature. Two of his novels have been recommended by Oprah Winfrey’s “O” Magazine, including “Buffalo Jump Blues,” which was chosen as one of the best summer reads of 2016. Beyond writing, Keith lives with his wife, cat, fly rods and, as a wild bird rescue volunteer, various feathered friends, in southwest Montana.

We are excited to see everyone who has supported this event in the past, again this year. In addition, we are thrilled to extend a heart-felt welcome to anyone who may be new to this event. It truly is a special evening in Central Montana. This year our event will be on Wednesday, May 15 at the Elks Clubhouse. A no-host cocktail hour and silent auction will begin at 5 pm followed by dinner at 6 pm. The night will culminate with a presentation by Keith beginning at 7 pm. Tickets are $50.00 and the proceeds of this event go to support the Library and the Summer Reading Program. I would like to take a moment and thank the Friends of the Lewistown Public Library for their sponsorship of this event and the support provided by the Library Board.

If you are interested in the event or would like to purchase a ticket, please stop by the Library or give us a call at 538-5212. Tickets are also available from any Library Trustee.
