Mother and Daughter Suspense by The Stereotypical Librarian

It is often thrilling when a mom and daughter get to spend time together; however, these following books take the excitement to a whole new level.

The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn – The mom who happens to love watching old black and white Hitchcock movies feels like she is living in one when she witnesses her neighbor being murdered.  Did she or didn’t she and what happened to her daughter?  To find out you will have to read this New York Times best seller.

The One I left Behind by Jennifer McMahon – In 1985 the mom was the last victim of Neptune a serial killer who removes the right hand of each woman that is killed then leaves it on the doorstep of the police station.  Reggie the daughter, who was 13 at the time, finds out 25 years later that her mom is still alive.  Where has she been?  Who is Neptune? If you like twists and turns and solving mysteries you will enjoy reading this book.

Mind of Winter by Laura Kasischke – Christmas day is when the events take place in this story.  A medical emergency while picking the grandparents up from the airport keeps the father occupied.  A raging blizzard keeps all the other guests from coming over for Christmas dinner.  Mother and daughter are home alone!  It might not get you in the holiday mood but this book will haunt you.

Afterwards by Rosamund Lupton – This mother – daughter duo is circling the drain after getting caught in a fire at school.  The experience brings them closer as they spiritually investigate the cause of the fire and other mysterious events that threaten their family and bond.  Who will live, and who won’t?  It is a very well written book.

Watch me Disappear by Janelle Brown – A patron recommended this book to me as a real page turner.  It is.  Read about what happens to a family when the mother suddenly disappears leaving a teenage daughter with unanswered questions.  Hint, hint the mother had secrets no one knew about.

Close my Eyes by Sophie McKenzie – Eight years ago this mother’s daughter was stillborn, or maybe not.  Wow, it really keeps you on the edge!

The Bones of You by Debbie Howells – Who would kill the perfect daughter from the perfect family?  You guessed it and you will have to read it to find out if you are right.

I’ve been in suspense this summer while reading these books I hope you will enjoy them too.
