Treasure State and Young Reader’s Choice Book AwardsEach school year, students are given the opportunity to read a specific selection of books and vote on their favorite in the spring. The Treasure State Picture Book Award was established by two Montana librarians in 1990 enabling Montana 1st-3rd grade students to vote for the book of their choice. The Young Reader’s Choice Award, the oldest such award in the U.S. and Canada (established in 1940), is sponsored by the Pacific Northwest Library Association. Fourth to twelfth grade students in the Pacific Northwest are eligible to vote.
The 2016 nominees are currently on display on the library’s ramp. If you cannot obtain a copy from your school, this is the place to look.
