The Upper Missouri River Breaks National Monument is a stunning area along a 149-mile stretch of the Missouri River. Rich in ecological and cultural history, the Monument is also a prime destination for outdoor recreational activities, including boating, hunting, hiking, fishing, and camping. However, few Montanans are aware of the Monument and what it has to offer. The Friends of the Missouri Breaks Monument is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and preserving the Monument. Every year, the Friends organize and oversee volunteer events geared toward protecting and preserving the Monument’s wild features. The Friends also dedicate a portion of their time to educate the public and bring awareness to the Monument and all it has to offer, as we believe that every Montanan deserves to know about and visit one of the most beautiful stretches of protected land in the state.
