Effect of mood and season on reading

After spending the summer reading George R.R. Martin’s books and living in Westeros I know words are wind and winter is coming.

Now I’m hungry for some mysteries that evoke the eerie feelings that this season brings. True crime stories such as Ann Rule writes and In Cold Blood by Truman Capote are perfect choices for this time of year. When suspense and psychological terror are called for these fiction authors: Harlan Coben, Mary Higgins Clark, Tom Savage, Carlene Thompson are some of my favorites. The library has a nice collection of DVD’s I just watched Capote that’s why I’m rereading In Cold Blood. Pierrepoint: the last Hangman is another DVD that the library owns that I highly recommend also try the Wallander DVD series. They are based on the books by Henning Mankell and the library has all of them as well.

Never be afraid to use the library even if it is where we keep all the spooking books and movies at least the staff isn’t scary — usually!
